Vegan Brownies Recipe
Something a little indulgent today and this is my chocolate orange vegan brownies recipe. completely plant-based and so easy to make.
Its a good one and I’ve made this with protein powder, which could easily be switched out for cocoa powder, or vanilla protein and white chocolate for a ‘blondie’. I use Arbonne protein because of its vitamin content but any brand of protein could be used.
The orange flavouring is also optional. You could flavour your brownie with or without oils. Peppermint is next on my list to try. Or just keep them simple with a vanilla pod or vanilla essence.
If you do decide to use an oil, just make sure its food grade and edible, not all are.
These are delicious straight from the over and give that delicious crunch on top and gooey goodness inside.
Play around with the sugar content or even swap for a stevia sweetener.
The ingredients are so simple and if you’re a keen baker you’re likely to have these in your store cupboard already.
170g Self Raising Flour
4 Heaped tbs of Protein Powder (or cocoa powder)
5 Tbps Sunflower Oil
100g Dark Chocolate (vegan)
180g Caster Sugar
180ml Almond Milk
2 tsp of Vanilla Essence or 1 Vanilla Pod
Pinch Of Salt
Preheat Oven to 180 degrees.
Grease baking tray with sunflower oil (I use whichever baking tray I can find) Cut baking paper and set into the baking tray.
Melt chocolate over a warm pan with a heatproof dish.
Sift flour and protein powder (or cocoa powder) into a large bowl.
Stir in sugar, vanilla essence, orange oil and milk.
Once combined stir in the melted chocolate and a pinch of salt.
If the mixture is too dense stir in a little more milk. The mixture should drop slowly from your wooden spoon.
Pour mixture into the baking tray.
Bake for 20-30 minutes depending on tray size.
To test use a skewer in the middle of the bake, it should come out clean without any mixture sticking to it.
Eat warm! And enjoy!
