Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer Review

Hello, lovelies. I’m back and back with a review of the highly anticipated Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer.

The word on the ‘beauty street’ is that this is the next concealer to rival the products at the top of the concealer charts!

Designed to magically erase those sleep-deprived dark circles, transforming you into a beauty queen that achieves a regular 9 hours of beauty sleep.

This is also the first product on the market to claim it can give the appearance of an upper eye lift! With a ‘Spanx’ like formula, it claims to ‘stretch’ across the skin, reducing the look of fine lines and crows feet.

Packed full of ‘good for skin’ ingredients, such as Persian silk tree bark extract, this little product makes big claims and is priced at £24.

The Magic Away Concealer is the latest addition to CT’s ‘Magic’ range, which features products such as her, magic foundation and powder, and as we all know Charlotte is renowned for making fantastic skin products.

I was lucky to get my hands on this product early and have been testing for a few weeks now. I am in the shade, 2 Fair.  You can see the full shade range HERE.

The reason it has taken me so long to write my review is that on first try, I really didn’t like this product and was surprised by how much this didn’t work for me.

Not one to let a makeup product get the better of me, I persevered with this for a few weeks and the conclusion? Sorry, Charlotte, I reluctantly have to report, this concealer just isn’t for me.

I’ve read such good early reviews of this product, and I think I might be one of the only people to think this just doesn’t measure up to other products on the market?

Why didn’t this work for me?

Just before I get into why I don’t like this product, I just want to add that I have tried every which way to make this work for me. Blended with a sponge, finger and brush. Blended straight after application, waited for the product to sink into my skin before blending, etc etc, you get the picture.

No matter how I applied or blended, it creased like mary hell into my fine lines and I don’t mean just a little, I mean a lot! In fact, to the point that I can safely say, this is the worst concealer I have ever used for creasing. Even after setting with my usual setting powder, it was still a creased messed.

The formula is thick, think Bye Bye Undereye but without the greasy feeling, but the coverage just isn’t there.

As I have very dark under eyes, I was expecting a lot from this product, however, this left me looking more tired than before application.

I also didn’t see any of the age-defying benefits the product claims to have. It accentuates my fine lines and by midday, it looked like I had no concealer on at all.

With the above in mind, I have now given up trying to use this under my eyes, but I am using around my nose, chin and forehead to conceal and highlight.

If you are looking for a good undereye concealer with a sponge applicator like this, try the Maybelline Age Rewind. It’s tons better and at a fraction of the cost.

On a positive note, as with all Charlotte Tilbury products, the packaging is lovely, it’s just a very expensive pretty for your dresser.
